Adopting A Soldier
THORNE MIDDLE SCHOOL IS ADOPTING A SOLDIER!
2ND Plt. Robert Angellella had to ship off with his Marine platoon to Afghanistan a week before his beautiful baby girl, Adrianna, was born. His lovely young wife Stephanie Angellella now awaits his return, so he can meet his little daughter, hopefully in August. Al Cores gave approval for Thorne Middle School to adopt this soldier and his Marine platoon, now stationed in Afghanistan. These soldiers are serving our nation in an area of the world that does not lend itself to the regular rules of engagement. My father was career Army enlisted, so as an Army “brat”, I know what this young family is going through.  I have a personal interest in this young family. Stephanie went to Barnegat High School, and I knew her when I was a counselor there. Stephanie’s best friend just happens to be our babysitter, who we have trusted our kids with for several years. Thank goodness Stephanie has such a wonderful best friend to lean on. I asked Stephanie to provide a list of items that Robert and his troop need:
Here’s the list of items needed by the 3/6 India Company, Unit 73295:
  1. PILLOWS – MOST REQUESTED ITEM!  Stephanie explained that the troops usually use their combat bags to sleep on which are very dirty and hard.
  2. LETTERS FROM THE KIDS AND STAFF – The troops LOVE to get letters!
  3. COUGH DROPS
  4. CHAPSTICK
  5. RAZORS
  6. TOOTHBRUSHES
  7. BABY WIPES
  8. ANY KIND OF CANDY

You can have students deliver any donations and letters to my office, and I will make regular shipments to this Marine troop.  Thank you so much for helping me with this.  This young family and their extended family are very appreciative and thankful to Thorne Middle School.
