Thorne is a very active place and there are many programs that benefit our students. All of our fundraising efforts support either programs for our students or encourage them to be unslfish and help others. No students is ever forced to participate, and no Door to Door seling is ever acceptable.

WHAT? Great American

WHERE? All students will be able to participate by selling items from the catelog to family. There is to be NO door to door selling. We receive credit for all on-line sales.

WHEN? Forms are due back by October 6. 2009

WHAT? Dance Dance Revolution

WHERE? Students will get sponsors so they can participate in a dance dance revolution contest. Many prizes will be available and the proceeds go to the PTA. Mrs. Mess will tally the participants. We made over 1000.00 last year on short notice and are expecting better results this year.

WHEN? Pep rally to introduce the fundraiser is on September 30th during last period. The competition will take place during gym periods on October 26th.

WHO? Who is sponsoring the activity? Drama club/TV Dept.

WHAT? Kidstuff Coupon Books

WHERE? Where is the activity going to take place? Those who want to participate may take a book home to sell or purchase. The price is $25.00. Our dept. gets ½ of the profit and we order 75 books per year. There is no limit on how many we sell and non-sold books are returned. Mrs. Mess collects and tally’s returns.

WHEN? Fundraiser ends October 8th.

WHO? Drama club/TV Dept.

WHAT? The Big Clip Boxtops

WHERE? Anyone who has box tops can bring them in. Mrs. Mess will count and send them in. We will receive $0.10 for each boxtop.

WHEN? Box tops can be brought in at any time during the school year.

Who? Community Service: All students

What? Dog and cat food, towels, blankets, beds, collars, bowls , leashes, paper towels and cleaning supplies, money for the Humane Society, Popcorn Park Zoo, and local Rescue Groups

What? Middletown Helps It’s Own Toy Drive—The Students collect money, Shop for Toys and package Gift Boxes for Families in the Middletown Community. We have been involved since 1996.

Where? We finish our shopping activity at the Elks Club on Friday, December 18th 2009 and we pack the food boxes at the club.

When? We begin the drive on Oct. 1st Back to School Night and end on December 17th. I collect all money for the drive and We shop with the money on Friday after school at Target on December the 18th. The Police take the children (about 15-20) out to dinner, I always chaperone and Kara Nolan comes with us. We finish at the Elks for the packing.

What? Spring Photo shoot with Lifetouch photography

Where? Every student will have their photo taken during the Gym /computer period on one day this spring. For every student that sits for the camera the yearbook receives $2.00. If the student wishes to purchase the photos they deal directly with the company Lifetouch. If they do not want the photos they return them to room 129,Yearbook
