We are creating a love of reading here at Thorne. Our theme is:
READ! READ ANYTHING, JUST READ!
The Lion Read-A-Thon will give everyone here at Thorne, students and staff, the opportunity to earn prizes for their reading efforts. We will be keeping track of the total minutes of reading time. Participants can vie for prizes (to be announced) by attempting to reach these levels:
Bronze Award = 2,500 minutes
Silver Award = 5,000 minutes
Gold Award = 7,500 minutes
Platinum Award = 10,000 minutes
Here’s how it works:
After you have spent some time reading, record your time on the “Reading Coupon.” It has to be certified by having a parent or guardian fill out and sign the coupon. Put the coupon in the appropriate grade level box in the office. Individual student minutes, as well as grade level minutes will be tallied. Once a month the top 10 readers in each grade, as well as grade level totals, will be listed on our Wall of Readers located at the 6th, 7th and 8th grade wings. Grade level totals will be displayed on our Read-O-Meters near the front entrance to the school.
